Santa Barbara Technology Incubator (“SBTi”), a dynamic environment for nurturing and successfully propelling high-technology start-ups to tier-one venture financing, today announced the selection of its Boards of Directors and Advisors. Board of Director members include: Milt Honea, Bob Dorf, Trevor Fetter, David Johnson, and SBTi Founder, Chairman and CEO, Dennis Cagan. “Each Board member plays a critical role as we build SBTi’s position in the high-technology start-up arena,” said Dennis Cagan. “Each of these gentlemen has the experience and connections to drive our new ventures to hit accepted minimum milestones required by the tier-one venture capital firms within three to nine months of incubation.” Milt Honea earned the reputation of “Mr. Turnaround” for rescuing ailing companies and putting them on a track for success. After serving 22 years with FMC Corporation, lastly as Head of Automotive Equipment, he undertook the turnaround of American Transportation Corporation. Then as President Arkla Gas Company, he took that company from $60 million annually in losses to $60 million annual profits. Later he turned Norman Energy, a multi-billion dollar Fortune 500 company, from near bankruptcy at $5 per share to $16 per share in four years as Chairman, President and CEO. Milt currently serves on several boards including that of Reliant Energy (NYSE REI), one of the world’s largest energy companies, as well as on the boards of smaller companies in the manufacturing, semiconductor, and Internet industry sectors. Bob Dorf is President of Peppers and Rogers Group, the preeminent management consulting firm specializing in customer relationship management and e-business strategies. Earlier, Bob spent two decades as founder and CEO of Dorf & Stanton Communications, a top communications and public relations firm, which he sold in 1989. Trevor Fetter serves as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Broadlane Inc., the new business-to-business e-commerce company created by Tenet Healthcare Corporation and Ventro Corporation (formerly Chemdex Corporation). He served as Chief Corporate Officer and Chief Financial Officer of Tenet where he was responsible for the company’s corporate functions, including the areas of law, information systems, human resources, communication and administration, and was actively involved in the areas of future strategic initiatives, acquisitions and new ventures. As Chief Financial Officer, he was responsible for all financial and investor relation functions for Tenet. David Johnson was formerly Senior Executive Vice President of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Inc., the holding company of MGM Studios and United Artists, having responsibility for legal and business affairs, finance and acquisitions. Prior to joining MGM he was a partner of the law firm of White & Case, specializing in finance, mergers and acquisitions. David is also an advisory board member of Agility Capital, LLC, a bridge loan fund affiliated with Sand Hill Capital, and several early stage companies.
