...Speaking of incubators

The recently-formed Santa Barbara Technology Incubator, founded by tech expert and well-known entrepreneur Dennis Cagan to manage early-stage high tech companies, formally announced its management team last week.

Ron Macleod joins SBTi as senior vice president of business development and marketing. Previously, he was managing director of capital markets, global sales and investment banking for the Nasdaq stock market, and a former partner at the Carson Group.

Jason Spievak, formerly a vice president of technology mergers and acquisitions at Broadview Associates comes on board as senior vice president of investments.

Barbara Whatley, named chief financial officer, joins SBTi from SupplySolution Inc., a Santa Barbara, Calif.-based application service provider targeting the automotive industry.

Among the other execs named is Christina Walman, director of business development, who also currently is the associate director for the Center for Entrepreneurship and Engineering Management at the University of California Santa Barbara.

Not a bad lineup.
