Santa Barbara Technology Group’s Dennis Cagan To Speak April 23 at Business & Industry Associates Luncheon
 
Santa Barbara, Calif., April 13, 2001 -- Dennis Cagan, chairman and CEO of Santa Barbara Technology Group, will be the featured speaker at an April 23 luncheon hosted by Santa Barbara City College’s Business & Industry Associates. The luncheon will be held at the Cabrillo Pavilion Art Center from 11:30 – 1:30.

Mr. Cagan will discuss a variety of business and technology topics, including:
  • The future of NASDAQ and high-tech companies in general
  • How the current economic climate affects start-ups
  • What business incubators are, and why they have received negative publicity lately
  • What the Santa Barbara Technology Group is
  • The difference between Santa Barbara’s non-tech and high-tech people
  • How individuals in Santa Barbara can benefit from the high-tech industry

Often referred to as a “serial entrepreneur,” Dennis Cagan has been active in the high-tech industry for more than three decades. In 1979 he was the keynote speaker at the first COMDEX Show, in Las Vegas, and since then he has become a nationally recognized authority on software, hardware, and communications, in the disciplines of strategy, sales, marketing, services, and distribution channels.

Mr. Cagan has been involved with some of Santa Barbara’s most successful technology enterprises, including Wavefront Technologies, Software.com (Openwave), Commission Junction, and SupplySolution. He is currently a member of the boards of directors for Acorn Technologies, MessageMedia, SupplySolution, and Commission Junction. Mr. Cagan majored in Economics at UCLA.
